Jemma Simmons is the ideal customer of the Container Store. She likes things organized, and her apartment attests to that - things are labeled, stacked, folded away, and generally kept as neat as anyone could possibly wish. It also attests to the fact that she is a bit of a geek and has no problem with this, highlighted by the clock on the wall. Actually, that was a gift from a friend in her first PhD program, but the point stands - she kept the clock.

"While you're in there, could you fetch me a cider?" Jemma calls as she flops onto the couch - it's been a long, hard day of science-ing. She has earned herself some cider and at least a few handfuls of the popcorn she's pretty sure Leo is making.

"Fine, tomorrow you can deal with the agents from other departments wanting to know if I've made any headway on the Chitauri weapons and I'll just work on actually making headway." She retorts, gratefully accepting one of the bottles. "Honestly, have they nothing better to do?"

"You know how well I deal with the bureaucracy. Quite a bit worse than you fare, to be honest."

He flopped down on the couch and sighed.

"I'd like to see you actually make headway. These aren't biological."

His first sentence was also poking fun.

"You know I wouldn't be able to do this without you, right?"

"Well, the interfaces must be, they aren't responding to anything else." She huffs, defending her pet theory. And then she steals his popcorn, like the hardened popcorn stealer that she is. "Of course Fitz, we're always together - what's brought this on?"

"Does something always need to happen for me to say 'thank you'?"

His eyes roll and he looks at Simmons out of the corner of his eye. A grin grows on his face as he tosses some popcorn in his mouth.

She returns the eye-roll, washing down the popcorn with cider.

"So what is it going to be tonight - Doctor Who, Cosmos, or pointing out the technical flaws in Robot Wars?"

"Well, you do know how much I love a good binge on Doctor Who. However, I'm thinking Cosmos..."

He grinned and took a swig of his own cider.

She doesn't need further urging - she pulls up episode two of Sagan's series (her personal favorite), and settles in happily.

She waits until they're well into the story of the crabs before she notes, idly:
"So, I've applied to take the field qualification again."

Fitz sighed and looked at Jemma,

"You know it was never suggested we go into the field, right? What has got you so intent on doing field work when we do so well in the lab together?"

He glanced over at the TV. It's not as if they hadn't watched this many times before but it was interesting.

"Come on, Fitz - it would be absolutely brilliant from a scientific point of view. To get to see the things we're studying and preparing for up close and in situ, rather than from reports and shaky video feeds and whatever mangled piece of machinery gets brought back for analysis." She retorts eagerly - she's put thought into this. "You can't tell me you're not just a little bit curious."
